On-Site Emissions Measurement

Stack Testing for Permitted Facilities Across Southern California

On-site emissions measurement. Mobile lab. Real-time data. Defensible results.

Measurements

What Gets Measured at the Stack

Stack testing captures what's actually coming out of your exhaust — not modeled estimates, not emission factors. Actual pollutant concentrations and mass emission rates measured under real operating conditions.

Our team sets up, follows the testing protocol, and measures the parameters required by the governing agency — SCAQMD, CARB, or EPA.

Measurements include:

  • Measurement site and traverse-point assessment (SCAQMD Methods 1.1–1.2)
  • Stack gas velocity and volumetric flow rate (SCAQMD Methods 2.1–2.3)
  • Moisture content (SCAQMD Method 4.1)
  • Molecular weight determination — O2, CO2 (SCAQMD Method 3.1)
  • Particulate matter — PM (condensable or non-condensable), PM10 (SCAQMD Methods 5.1–5.3)
  • Combustion gases — NOx, CO, O2, CO2, SO2 (SCAQMD Method 100.1)
  • Organics — TNMNEOC, ROGs (SCAQMD Methods 25.1 & 25.3)
  • Air toxic contaminants — metals, formaldehyde, dioxins, HCl, PAHs

SCAQMD requires this data — depending on your permit to operate — to verify your equipment meets its emission limits.

Equipment Expertise

We Know the Equipment Because We've Tested It

After 28 years in Southern California, there aren't many permitted unit types we haven't seen from the platform.

Boilers and steam generators

Firetube, watertube, package units (Rules 1146/1146.1)

Process heaters

Refinery heaters, thermal oxidizers, afterburners

Ovens and furnaces

Curing, annealing, calcining

Turbines

Gas, micro, combined heat and power

IC engines

Diesel generators, natural gas

Control devices

SCR, SNCR, catalytic oxidizers, baghouses, scrubbers, HEPA filters

Spray booths and coating lines

Rule 1147

Incinerators and waste-to-energy

Combustion and thermal treatment

Different units need different methods and different operating conditions during the test. Getting that match wrong wastes everyone's time.

Our Equipment

The Mobile Lab

Our lab is a fully equipped emissions monitoring platform that rolls up to your facility. Continuous gas analyzers for NOx, CO, SO2, O2, CO2. Chemiluminescence, NDIR, UV absorption, paramagnetic detection. Multi-channel data recorders. Wet chemical and non-chemical sampling trains for moisture, particulate, and toxic work. Sample lines to 300+ feet.

On-site analysis gives you preliminary results during the test. You'll know whether your unit is meeting limits before we leave.
